Dr Elena George is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and Senior Research Fellow at Deakin University’s Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN), ranked in the top 0.3% globally for diet research and Australia’s leading dietitian in fatty liver disease. Her work focuses on translating dietary evidence into practical, culturally responsive strategies to prevent and manage cardiometabolic diseases, including metabolic liver disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, with a strong emphasis on real-world implementation and global impact.

Dr Ann Farrell (MBBS, FRACP) is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and Eastern Health. She is a clinician researcher and has submitted her PhD thesis for examination at the University of Melbourne, which examined the epidemiology and treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Her primary study compared the impact of a VLED-based obesity management approach for the management of MASLD compared to a Mediterranean diet.
